Hand Washing Clothes and Dry Cleaning

Picture

Handwashing

is a complete pain, especially at university. But it's a good skill to learn if you want to keep your expensive woollens and silks looking nice. This is a useful video clip. And remember in future to check care labels before you buy clothes! Items requiring handwashing and dry cleaning will inevitably stay at the bottom of your laundry basket!

Dry Cleaning

Fortunately, you probably won't have to take coats, suits etc to the dry cleaners during term time. But if you do, you will need to find one in your nearest town and just hand in the item to be cleaned and pick it up again. It will be expensive (several pounds) but will look great and be professionally pressed. Remember in future to check care labels before you buy. It's OK to have a couple of really posh things that need dry cleaning, but for everyday wear it's just not worth going there!
